Elizabeth&James

Many of us know Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have a multi-million dollar organisation but it seems as though they have hidden themselves from the products and merchandise that they produce, such as their affordable label Elizabeth&James(named after their siblings)which is also their contemporary collection inspired by many of their unique vintage finds and pieces in their personal wardrobes.

I have to admit i find it more intriguing that they haven’t used their images to publicises the label but rather left it up to us to weave our way through to see who the creators are behind Elizabeth and James, which of course was exactly what i sort out to do.

Here are my favourite pieces (which i have also added to my wish cart until the day i can afford them all)

All these are avaliable online at(make sure you check out their shoes aswell!)

Revolveclothing.com

Net-a-porter.com

and many more if you just google elizabeth and james.

Flares are back.

Categories:  Fashion
Tags: , , , , , ,

This is something that was bound to happen, as always old trends from 60′s,70′s, 80′s and even 90′s seem to be recycled to make newer more innovating trends for the fashion forward. As for flares aka bell bottoms, i find it very difficult to understand why we would want to bring those overbearing unflattering pants back into our wardrobes. However they have managed to made their way back into our lives and if your a person who likes to stay on top of the trend you will most possibly need to invest in a pair.

Flares styles  to invest in:

Lace Flares you can purchase at Bonadrag.com

Flare Pants trousers are from Chloe

Demin Flares can be found on Rachel Zoe.com(or any stores that sell jeans really)

i would like to add as a personal opinion, flares are not for everyone! they are quite difficult to pull off and even though flares are fashionable again it does not mean you have to invest in them just because its the “cool” thing to do.

Source: Cobra Snake Photography Blog

Cobra Snake is most probably the best/random/usual/bizarre/unique photographer i have come across in the last few years. I have also had the pleasure of meeting him at a night out in oxford st Sydney were i scored a free t-shirt(thanks cobra). Cobra has a photography blog The Cobra Snake and i recommend you all go check it out. it has given me quite a few inspirations for my daily and weekend outfits.

Now getting to the point, i recently discovered his clothing website Cobra Shop and to say the least it is incredible. Cobra Shop has both Women and Men clothings and each item  have been hand picked from the Cobras adventures all over the world and  the best thing is its all one of a kind pieces so you know no one else could possibly have the same outfit as you.

My picks for must have (some items seen on girls can also be worn by men, so don’t be deceived guys)

There are many more pieces i loved that i just cant fit on one post so make sure you go check out the Cobra’s Shop.

You should also follow him on twitter his tweets are always so interesting to read.

‘Dis-evolution’

Categories:  Uncategorized

Drypnz and his squadron of ‘drypppls’  are stopping by this thursday at oh really (newtown).

Should be quite good and starts at 18:00 hours so if you’re interested in comfortable thursdays complimented with some nice work from new zealand then i suggest coming.

Foothead is also exhibiting his uniquely grotesque yet transfixing style, complimenting drypnz nicely with his bizarre illustration of demons and creatures which haunt the human subconscious. “Visual ramblings” in other words.

KING OF THE BEACH

When Nathan Williams isn’t melting down on stage he is creating total chaos from his bedroom in San Diego. From the mass attention drawn from Wavves self titled debut it is difficult to make judgement on what could be in store for us with the follow up release. With the record titled King of the Beach and tracks ‘post acid’ and ‘super soaker’ there is an automatic intrigue to find out what all this skater grunge fuss is all about.

‘Post acid’ wants us to understand that he is just having fun. Nathan has moved away from tight, gloomy distortions and slobbering microphone lo-fi by delivering a range of catchy pop-punk. His influences are straightforward, by the direction he has taken with his vocals, maybe he has been listening to Blink 182 – Buddha a little too much. What we hear is clearer three chord guitar drones that match the nineties garage vocal echoes with a hint of romance pop. While this is nothing that hasn’t been heard before, there is the energy from the San Diego punk we love with the use of modern bedroom recording techniques to create a track that makes you want to trash the place and loose your head again.

Head to Fat Possum Records to pre order King of the Beach for a lazy USD10.00

Proenza Schouler.

I first discovered  Proenza Schouler when model/actress Chole Segvigny wore their tye-dye reptile print crew cut silk sweater( similar to the picture below). it was very clear that it was love at first sight. Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough have created items that are some what imaginative, innovative and irresistible to everyone! These guys took the notion of tracksuit jackets wrapped around waists and built those elements right into their clothing, which  just proves to me  how truly amazing their collection is.

These are most definitely my favourite pieces from their summer/spring collection2010;

however they have recently showed their winter collection for 2010 and all i can say is OH.MY.LORD. moving away from their summer/spring collection’s tie-dye for a darker, more polished one i read in elle.uk that their inspiration for this collection was “The rebellious cool girl in art school; early ’90s grunge.”

Heres a few looks from their collection. if you want to see the whole show click here.

Unfortunately for someone like me proenza schoulers clothing is not something i can easily afford  but thats not to say we cant use our credit card for one or two items that your dying for!(even if it means starving for a week.)

Websites that you can purchase proenza schoulers from are listed below

young upcoming designer.

Phoenix Keating is a young and upcoming designer who i believe will come under the elite circle of our fashion industry in sydney,  the creativity in his designer are somewhat imaginative, fascinating and most impressive. Phoenix’s  collection collaborates with materials  such as lace, fur, velvet and even so far as to using plastic and foam painted balls!

I was lucky enough to get to ask him a few questions,so here are;

Justbam-Where do you get your design inspiration?

Phoenix-I get my inspiration from many different era’s and obscurities.this collection was inspired by a very old blind cat. The owner held its eyes directly to mine and it was like for a second i saw its soul, i saw great power and disdain in this frail weak old cat. I instantly was inspired to create a collection based on blindness and the power that comes with it. the image in my mind was a woman who was blind. However, people were captivated with her. Blindness allowed her to seek more avant guard clothing. which is why i focused on texture and the use of unconventional materials instead of too much colour.

Justbam-Whose your favourite designer/stylist?

Phoenix-My favourite designer was, and will always be Alexander (Lee) McQueen. He pushed the boundaries and made people open their minds. i will always respect and feel great connection to him via this.He will remain as my favourite forever.

Justbam-how are your clothes different from the other designer?

Phoenix-I focus on unconventional materials and silhouettes.  Plus, My label is ‘bespoke’ (made to order) which is something which not many designers do.

Justbam-What do you think are your strengths and weaknesses in the art of fashion?

Phoenix-My strength is design and trying to stay of a past era and Weakness; I’m not patient at all. like at all haha..

Justbam-Would you consider yourself a Designer or Stylist?

Phoenix-I’m BOTH darling! haha!! usually people usually don’t do both because of clash of interest. However since my label is ‘bespoke’ (made to order) im not mass marketing, therefore can style without my designing getting in the way.

Justbam- What do you plan for your next collection?

Phoenix-Wait and see darling, but it will be great!!

To see the rest of Phoenix collection lookbook click here.

so keep your on out for his name. you will be sure to see it if your special enough

We all know Erin Wasson as being a model who has graced several fashion magazine such as Elle, Vouge and Allure but for the male reader you would have seen her in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2007. However Erin Wasson has her own self titled fashion label with RVCA and most recently her new collection of accessories “Low Love x Erin Wasson”, her pieces combine a mix of rocker edge and a touch of history.

I am inlove with Wasson’s new jewellery and especially at how affordable it is! My favourite piece is her knuckle ring(picture below) which has a bit of a medieval look to it and also her cuff’s which has hieroglyphics writing on them.

This is definitely something i think girls should all invest in.

ps if you interested in buying Erin Wasson’s jewellery you can go to ForwardForward.com

pps guys this is could get you brownie points if you purchase these for your special someone.

LOVE CONNECTION ALBUM LAUNCH

love connect

Don’t get confused by the title of the night, friday night music club is presenting love connection’s album launch this saturday march 27th at oxford art factory.

The Melbourne trio have just released their self titled debut album through sensory projects and inertia music and it has been described as “a collection of low-fi, synth-based electronica, dabbling in new wave and psychedelic sensibilities”. Sounds pretty damm good to me.

The opening track ‘i know you’re real’ offers a small taste of all of the above. An introduction that opens through loose guitars and a light base line while immersing into waving psychedelic rock through verses of vocal harmonies and creating soft indie rock with blends of synthesisers lining the background to give it a popular taste.

Purchase your tickets here and you will also catch No Art and Tomorrow’s Tulips (usa) if you get there early.

Love connection – I know you’re real ysi
